I have decided to have a complete redesign of my website.
I had received feedback that the design looked amateur and unprofessional. I wanted the website to look exciting, creative and eye-catching but after consulting my target audience I felt that this needed re-considering. The original design, on reflection, lacks sophistication. The multiple layering of the maps made the site look very cluttered after I started to add content. In addition to this, despite the layering of the maps, the design felt very flat. Several users stated that the website used too many colours than necessary.
I have redesigned the website totally, in which it now suits the broader target audience of media freelancers. It has a ‘new media’ futuristic feel that looks much more professional. The creative commons image of several fibre lighting all connecting together is relevant to the purpose of my website to create connections and gives depth to the site. I have dropped the opacity to allow the map to gain a hierarchy in terms of design.
